Elder neglect in healthcare is nothing new. With COVID-19 posing higher risks for
people 65 years of age and older, the nation's treatment of and attitude toward seniors
continues to send a message that this demographic is not prioritized and sometimes
not even considered. Various barriers and a lack of patient advocacy leave the elderly
to fend for themselves when they are the ones who need the most assistance.
