COVID-19 Update
People who have had COVID-19 in the past may think they don't need to be vaccinated. However, a recent CDC
study examining the effectiveness of mRNA vaccination in those who previously had COVID-19 found that it provided
protection against subsequent COVID-19-associated hospitalization and reinfection.
Although people with previous COVID-19 infections have some protection against reinfection and hospitalization,
data collected between June 2021 and February 2022 demonstrated that estimated vaccine effectiveness during the
Omicron-predominant period was approximately 35% after dose 2, and 68% after a booster dose.
To prevent COVID-19-associated hospitalization, eligible individuals are encouraged to stay up to date with vacci-
nation and recommended booster doses, including those with previous COVID-19 infection. COVID-19 vaccines are
available for individuals ages 5 and older, with booster doses and second booster doses available for select groups.
Stay up to date on the latest vaccine and booster information from the CDC.
