Live Healthy Live Well, a Social Innovation for Missouri (SIM) program, is in its third year of
funding. Focus areas include: healthy lifestyles, tobacco cessation and prevention, nutrition
and obesity prevention.
Year Three Goals:
Live Healthy Live Well set out to improve the overall health and wellness of Lafayette County
by decreasing tobacco use, increasing access to healthy, fresh foods and providing an
environment that encourages physical activity.

EBT promotion at Farmers' Markets through WIC, Headstart and Samuel U. Rodgers
Promoting use of locally grown fresh foods in area restaurants
Evidence-based MU Extension Show-Me Nutrition curriculum for grades 1 through 4 in
Lexington, Higginsville, Odessa, Concordia, Waverly and Wellington
Training and support for school garden programs at Lexington, Higginsville and Odessa
after school programs
"Livable Street Policy" presentations to area city councils to create safe routes to
school, and increased access to parks and trails
Start! Walking program to increase physical activity in school settings and workplaces
Smoke-free policy reviews at area school districts to encourage tobacco free campuses
Clean air promotion at schools, parks and municipalities to encourage smoke-free areas
