A: Some of the biggest accomplishments I have seen through my time as an alderman are changing the lagoon sewer system to the current treatment system, continuing to improve the park, the upgrading of our streets and the water tower. Q: What are your biggest concerns? A: The current waterline system was installed in the mid to late 60s and in the coming years will need to be replaced. This will be a big expense to address in the future. Q: If you were granted three wishes for Buckner, what would they be? increase in sales tax in the future as it hasn't changed in 35 years. Q: How long have you served as alderman? A: I have served as alderman for about 25 years. Q: Who or what encouraged you to take this position and why? A: Bill Lyons, Sr. encouraged me to become an alderman and I chose to do so because I was interested in how our city's Alderman Jim Jones Shares Hopes, Perspective for Buckner A: I would like to see more indus- try opportunities come to Buckner so our residents can find jobs in our area without having to go so far. I am hopeful for a successful move to the new city hall, to attract small businesses again and become a viable area. I would love to see a physician and a dentist open services to our resi- dents. Q: What's next for the city of Buckner? A: In my opinion, the next thing for the city to start planning is the replacement of the outdated wa- terline systems with a more cur- rent system. Q: Is there anything else you'd like people to know? A: The City of Buckner has not had a tax increase since 1978. We are always short on our budget and do not have the revenue to maintain without waiting for accu- mulated funds. It would be nice for the residents to approve an supports the Fairs and Festival Committee's mission of bringing quality, affordable, family-friendly events to the citizens of Buckner, Lollar said. "Through our partnership with High Stakes Rodeo, this event is all we could have hoped for and more." Rodeo enthusiasts can expect to see more advanced skill performances during the adult competition. Events include bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Additionally, there will be a second round of children's mutton busting.
