Larry Neidel Shares Perspective on City
Q: How long have you served
as city clerk?
A: Almost two years.
Q: Who or what encouraged
you to take this position and
why?
A: When I found out the job was
available, I decided to apply
because I enjoyed my time
serving as an alderman and
mayor. I saw it as an opportunity
to once again serve Buckner.
Q: What are some of the
biggest accomplishments
during your tenure?
A: The revitalization of downtown
Buckner which will lead us to
revitalizing more areas of Buckner
and making it a city we can all be
even more proud of.
Q: What are your biggest
concerns?
A: One of my biggest concerns is
that we won't be able to maintain
services to the people of Buckner
without an increase in businesses
or taxes. The city has not had a
tax increase since 1978, while the
cost of running a city goes up all
the time.
Q: If you were granted three
wishes for Buckner, what
would they be?
A: My first wish would be more
citizen involvement in our family-
friendly events. My second wish
would be for more businesses to
come to Buckner to help our tax
base and offer more services to
our citizens. My final wish would
be that Buckner will become a
destination place that draws
families and events to our
community.
Q: What is the "one thing"
that must be accomplished in
Buckner and why?
A: More businesses or a tax
increase to increase the city's
revenues, so we can maintain and
improve our services to the
citizens.
Q: What's next for the City of
Buckner?
A: With continued growth and
revitalization, the best is yet to
come.
Q: Is there anything else
you'd like people to know?
A: All of the city's employees
work hard with what we have to
make Buckner a great place to
live and raise families.
