7/ TheBucknerClarion.com September 25, 2014 Community News Yvonna Stapleton talks about hope for City Q: How long have you served as city administrator? A: I have been city administrator since June of 2007, and employed with the city since 1997. Q: Who or what encouraged you to take this position and why? A: I grew up in Buckner, and I love the town and the people here. I would love the town to grow and improve, but still keep that small town feel that I knew growing up here. Q: What are some of the biggest accomplishments during your tenure? A: I have seen this town go through so many changes, different mayors and changes in the boards. But I would have to say that the biggest accomplishment has been to see the beginning of the downtown revitalization. That is an exciting thing not just to me, but to everyone here. Q: What are your biggest concerns? A: Funds are always a concern and meeting the citizens' needs. As a small city, everyone wears many hats. Unfortunately, nothing happens overnight. But, we all work tirelessly to provide the best service to the citizens that we can with available funds. Q: If you were granted three wishes for Buckner, what would they be? A: Communication would be number one. We would love to see more people get involved and come to the meetings and voice their opinions. Businesses: While we are headed in the right direction, I would like to see people get excited about opening their business here. Community Involvement: We are on the path to having more and more family-oriented events in Buckner. So, my third wish would be for more people to get involved. Q: What is the "one thing" that must be accomplished in Buckner and why? A: Community involvement. If we are going to succeed and be a destination for people to come to, we definitely need the support of our citizens. Q: What's next for the City of Buckner? A: The sky's the limit. I believe anything is possible. All of the boards and committees are doing a fantastic job. Everyone is on the same page as to what we want to see Buckner become. Q: Is there anything else you'd like people to know? A: Mayor Dan Hickson, Board of Aldermen, employees and volunteers are incredible at what they do, but it takes everyone to come together as a community LIFE-CHANGING LIFE-CHANGING PRAYER LIFE-CHANGING How do I pray?
