"Teaching has given me the opportunity not only to be influential, but also to continue to learn and lead," Rogers said. She has been with Fort Osage School District since 2006. Prior to coming to Fort Osage, Rogers was a teacher in the Grain Valley School District. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Graceland University. She earned a Master of Science in Instructional Technology and an Educational Specialist in Elementary Administration, both from Northwest Missouri State University. Rogers will begin the application process for the Missouri Teacher of the Year program. City Hall Construction Complete! The City of Buckner officially has a new Municipal Building which holds the City Hall, Police Department and court. Sporting a sleek gray color scheme, the Municipal Building feels fresh and new, something the city has been looking forward to for nearly a year. Those driving by can take in the new building's look and see how nicely it blends with the older historic buildings in downtown Buckner. City Administrator, Yvonna Stapleton, spoke with The Buckner Clarion about how it feels to finally have all city services under one roof. Because of the scale of the new construction, Stapleton said the process of moving has not been easy. "With any move, things are going to be hectic, especially with this big of a move and so many people and stuff to haul. But, we are getting there – slowly but surely." It has taken city workers a while to adjust to a new environment, so different from the previous city structures they grew accustomed to. However, Stapleton said the ease of communication between each group makes up for the stressful transition. "This building is huge, and we love it, it is just a big transition. I like that we are all together under one roof because of the communication factor. It is going to be a lot better for us." City workers are not the only ones benefiting from the move. Stapleton said the community loves the new building and the ease of services. "Here, we are all together. People just come to one place to get everything they need, so that makes it a lot better and easier for the citizens," she said. In the short time at the new location, Stapleton said the City has already had Osage Springs Homeowner's Association hold a meeting. Because the courtroom can easily turn into a meeting or reception hall, the City expects to host many more gatherings in the future. The new building is located at 315 S. Hudson. By Morgan Nail Open House is Tuesday, May 19 at 315 S. Hudson from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
