HCC of Rural Missouri Live Well Community Health Center - Buckner Red Cross Pharmacy Donation Helps Robotics Teams The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is made a $1,000 donation to the Career and Technology Center Robotics Team, Inspire, to be used to purchase needed tools for the team to complete in the World Robotics competition in late April in St. Louis Missouri. This donation was made possible thanks to Missouri State Representative Bill E. Kidd. A check presentation to the Inspire Robotics Program took place on Friday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fort Osage Career and Technology Center. "Part of being a State Rep is helping our schools and constituents back home, not just voting on legislation. After seeing the success the Fort Osage robotics team achieved in the recent Stronghold competition and learning of the need for tools and supplies, I decided to see if I could help. I am very pleased to announce this gift of $1,000 to the Ft. Osage Career and Technology Center robotics team. This $1,000 will help the CTC Robotics team in securing the needed equipment to effectively compete in other robotic competitions. I hope this gift establishes a long tradition of winning that Ft. Osage has begun," said Representative Kidd. According to Mike Pantleo, Director at the Career and Technology Center, "This donation is making a huge difference for our students. We appreciate Representative Kidd and Terry Akins from the IBEW making this possible." Local Board Member Achieves Advanced Certification Mr. Floyd Hawkins, a member of the Fort Osage R-1 Board of Education, has achieved Advanced Certification in the Missouri School Boards' Association certified board member program. The program established by MSBA recognizes school board members for participating in ongoing professional development to improve the knowledge and skills they need to function as effective educational leaders in their communities. Those members achieving Advanced Certification choose to complete additional professional development requirements beyond the 16 hours required by the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993. The Missouri School Boards' Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help public schools succeed. New Head Cheer Coach Named Dr. Jason Snodgrass, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to announce Heather Hopkins, Fort Osage High School teacher, will assume the role of Head Cheerleading Coach at Fort Osage High School, pending board approval on May 11, 2016. "I'm excited to take full advantage of this opportunity to carry on many traditions that have been instilled into the Fort Osage Cheerleading Program by Coach Schwab. I look forward to bringing innovative techniques to all of our squads while implementing a family atmosphere," said Hopkins. Hopkins can be reached for comment at 816-835-2994. New Director of Buildings and Grounds Named Dr. Jason Snodgrass, Superintendent of Schools, is pleased to announce that Salum Stutzer will be the next Director of Buildings and Grounds beginning July 1, 2016. Stutzer replaces David Swearingen who is retiring in June. "I am thrilled to serve as Fort Osages next Director of Facilities. I want to thank the Board of Education, and the search committee for my appointment. I look forward to meeting many members of the Fort family, and working with the various stakeholders to continue the Districts forward momentum. I can not wait to start," said Stutzer. Stutzer joins us from The Shawnee Mission School District where he currently serves as a Operations Supervisor. Prior to that he spent nine years at Central Methodist University, most recently serving as the Associate Dean of Student Development. Stutzer earned a Bachelor's degree in Recreational Administration from Central Methodist in 2005 and a Master's degree in Education in 2009. A native of Independence, Mo., Stutzer attended William Chrisman High School. Salum and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Independence, Mo., with their three sons, Noah, 8; Max, 4; and Louis, 2.
