accessHealthNews.net PAGE 10 Pharmacy & Your Health Easing Eczema Eczema describes various skin conditions, characterized by red, itchy skin rashes that may lead to peeling, blistering, crusting, or weeping sores. Eczema often refers to a long-term allergic skin disorder known as atopic dermatitis, or inflammation of the skin. Eczema may also refer to other types of dermatitis. These skin disorders are similar in how they appear on the skin but may have different triggers. Itchy rashes and sores associated with atopic dermatitis are triggered when allergens make contact with the skin. Other forms of eczema may be activated by the body's oil-making glands or caused by dry, cold air during winter months. Topical corticosteroid creams such as Neosporin Eczema Essentials Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch cream may help reduce symptoms of itching and irritation. Side effects include thinning of the skin, stretch marks, and acne.
