My name is Shayna Heathman and I'm an intern at Grace Advertising & Consulting, Inc. I am currently an undergraduate student majoring in Graphic Design at the University of Central Missouri. I am super excited to graduate this May! My hope is to pursue a career in advertising and marketing. I grew up in Higginsville, Mo. and graduated from Lafayette County C-1 in 2013. In high school, I was involved in so many sports and organizations like; volleyball, basketball, football cheerleading, wrestling cheerleading, baseball manager, Blue and Gold Singers, Girls Glee, yearbook staff, art club, Spanish club, FBLA, FCCLA, and Academic Team. I was the first student in Lafayette Co. C-1 to receive a State Officer Position in an organization. In Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), I held many officer positions from local to state. Being on the FCCLA State Executive Board as the VP of development was an amazing experience! I got the opportunity to travel and attend state and national conferences and conduct Stop the Violence workshops, where I focused on bully prevention and reaching for your dreams no matter what the obstacles. I was not only involved in school but also in the community. I received the titles of 2010 Young Miss Higginsville and 2012 Miss Higginsville. With those titles I received other awards such as 2010 and 2012 People's Choice Award, 2010 and 2012 Best Speech Award, Scholarship Award, community service awards and many more. I enjoyed being involved in the community and being a role model for younger girls. After graduating from Lafayette Co. C-1, I started my journey at UCM (University of Central Missouri). At UCM I still stayed busy. I become part of the Alpha Phi Sorority and other organizations on campus. In Alpha Phi, I held the positions of director of Parent and Alumnae Relations, website chairman and VP of marketing. I received a "Best in Bid Class" nomination and got involved in community service on campus and in Warrensburg. I was also a Gamma Chi that is a recruitment mentor for girls looking to find their place in the Greek community. I had the opportunity of being on the UCM Homecoming Executive Board in 2015, being a Student Orientation Leader and a member of Fraternity and Sorority Judiciary Board (FSJB). I am excited to see what the future holds and the opportunities to come. I want to thank Grace Advertising and Consulting, Inc. for giving me this opportunity as an intern and to work with a team of amazing women! In Her Own Words
