Local School Board Member
Achieves Master Certification
Mr. Floyd Hawkins, a member of the Ft. Osage R-I
Board of Education, has achieved Master Certification
in the Missouri School Boards' Association certified
board member program.
The program established by MSBA recognizes school
board members who choose to complete additional
professional development requirements beyond the 16 hours required by the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993. To achieve
Master Certification, board members must earn at least 24 additional training credits, read two books related to school board
service, attend at least two MSBA regional or statewide events and write a brief essay relating their study to their board service.
Those members achieving Master Board Member Certification will be recognized for engaging in ongoing professional
development to improve the knowledge and skills they need to function as effective educational leaders in their communities
during the MSBA Leadership Summit in June.
The Missouri School Boards' Association is a private, not-for-profit organization that exists to help public schools succeed.
